When I first found out we was doing a writing task I panicked, but surprisingly really enjoyed the task as it felt really creative. We had a short amount of time to answer certain questions, which we started off with ' Who am I? ' This is what I wrote.
I'm Jessie Moore, 19 from Essex. I have white, blonde hair that sometimes likes to look blue or purple. I am pretty small in height. I wear loads of rings and bracelets and never take them off. I have loads of shoes,
This is all i wrote for this task, although i do love talking about myself it was quite hard to think about things in such a short amount of time and get them down onto paper!
Our next task was to write in the style of a magazine we had chosen to bring. I choose company as for me its quite a fun and still fashionable magazine to read. The writing style is often very jokey which for me I understand more. Unlike some other fashion magazines, which might sometimes seem more like they are talking down to the reader, company relates and seems more like your best mate.
This is a short answer to the question 'The death of the high street, imagine a world without shops?', which I have written in the style of Company magazine.
Screaming, all hell breaking lose on the high streets of the UK, what would become of our shopping centres and the holy grail Oxford Street? Just a quick pop to Zara on your lunch break, last minute dash to Urban Outfitters and the panic, must have it now buy in Topshop will be no more. Buying online is fine I guess, but if your like me when even a trip to telco to get milk takes half an hour as, I have to touch and look at everything tesco extra has to offer, then only ever shopping online just won't do! I want to know what the fabric feels like to touch, I want to see what it looks like on straight away! And it's not just that, I want the whole shopping experience! The to loud music, the sweatiness of the sues, and finishing it all off with a cheeky starbucks, after shopping till you drop!

Photo Analysing - Hollister
For our seminar we got asked to bring in advertisement images for our brand we had been given. Mine was Hollister, which at first was not something I was very pleased about as its a brand I don't relate to and choose not to follow, but I thought maybe learning about the brand would maybe give me a better understanding of it.
This is my first response to the image.
- Young, playful.
- First love, wholesome all american couple.
- Beach and surf, natural.
- A young couple, or boy and girl who fancy each other, playing fighting. Made to see the girl is in control.
- You can't really see much of the products they are trying to sell, more of the way of life they want there consumer to aspire to.
- Sepia tint on the image and rough boarder gives it a more vintage feel like its from the 70's.
Overall I am still not yet a fan of Hollister and their advertisements.
Roles in Fashion Marketing - Retail Activity
Our task was to imagine we was working for a marketing agency for a US company, finding out concept straggles that the UK market uses. For this we had to find mens trainers, mens jeans and woman dresses, in the different price ranges of expensive, mid market and low budget. Me and my group went around Nottingham's city centre stores to see what we could discover. With our findings we put it all together into a powerpoint.

Roles in Fashion Marketing - Seminar Task
Our seminar task was to in groups choose three different brands. One that we considered expensive, one mid market and one cheap. We then had to discuss and analyse these brands using the 7p's, finding their target consumer, competitors and their desired and actual image.
Within my group we choose to think of our price range as students. Along with receiving loans of quite a lot of money,we may want to buy that dress that costs £200 but, we also have to budget for food and living. Although the main reason we come to university is to study, something that comes with that is meeting new people, and what comes with that is socialising. Many students would say they go out twice a week, weather that be to a club, gig, bar or house party, and with todays instant pictures on social media, being seen in the same outfit twice in a row will not go unnoticed! With that the ever more style conscious student maybe choose budget themselves to a new item of clothing every 2 weeks to a month.
For our cheap brand we looked at Boohoo, a online retailer, selling trend led, catwalk and celebrity inspired pieces. For mid market River Island, a popular high street store offering stylish pieces with their own unique touches. Finally, for our expensive brand All Saints. A British based brand selling its dark tonal garment, often hand embellished which gives the store unique and one off feel.
We then broke down in our group who would write about what brand, which I wrote about Boohoo. As its a brand that I wouldn't really shop with I was interested about learning about its image. This is what I discovered.
Boohoo maybe and online only brand but they advertise on telly, capturing there age group of 15- 25 with young models in mix sex groups in urban street lifestyle, with new music playing in the background. Boohoo's price range go from £5.00 - £60, with a boutique section which sells products that are little more of higher quality and higher designs. Other sections on the website include a trend option, which cauterises looks for the consumers particular style interest. To keep their consumers up to date with their brand they daily update social media sites, like Twitter and Facebook.

Roles in Fashion Marketing - Lecture
Roles within fashion marketing was both a lecture and seminar task that we done in groups in the city centre of Nottingham.
This is what I took from the lecture.
Fashion supply chain is how a garment starts out and gets to the consumer.
Starting with fabric and yarn supplier, manufacturer, brand, wholesaler, retailer and finally the consumer. I feel there is more to the chain and that there is more back and forth to it something like this.

Introduction Week
Within the introduction week our main task was a street style task. With this we could explore Nottingham more and what the general style of the city is like. We done this in groups which was good to make new friends on the course. My group didn't have much knowledge of the city but I did as I had already lived there for a year, doing a different course at the university, so i showed them the most cultural parts and where we would find the best dressed of the city!
We took inspiration from the Bill Cunningham film we watched at the Broadway cinema in town. Bill was the first street style photographer, capturing only the very stylish and anyone who catches his individual well trained eye in New York City, to be published weekly in the style section of the New York times. Now 80 + he continues his work with the paper and being adored and yet mysterious to everyone, including Anna Wintour.

With Bill as our street style photographer guru, we didn't just choose to take pictures of the most stylish but people that really caught our eye! from OAP's with bright pink hair to couples who were unknowably matching some way.
I really enjoyed this task and would love to continue capturing the unique style of the street myself.
First Term
As soon as I started Fashion Communication and Promotion at Nottingham Trent i knew it was for me! The tutors as passionate about the subject, and what we have learnt and been introduced to so far from inspirational people like Bill Cunningham and Diana Vreeland, skills for creating the perfect mood board, and to understanding business and advertising methods.
Out of all of the on going tasks we have been given to do I knew this would be the one I would struggle with the most. My writing and grammar skills are not the best and expressing myself on a blog is something I have never done before, as I know many people on the internet can be very critical of bad spellers! which personally i think life is too short for to worry about!
So, here is my blog from what I learn and am inspired by within my time on the FCP course and, also somethings that culturally interest me in my spare time.
